An Evening at the Lake

Matthew 13:1
That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake.

I smiled when I read this verse, taking it alone and outside of the full context in which it was written. Such an ordinary thing for Jesus to do, but he needed time alone with his Father, and I need time alone with him.

I love the beauty of this created world, and I love being in it. I think the next time I go to the lake and sit down on the shore, I'll smile and remember that Jesus did the exact same thing; and then I'll spend some time alone with him there, talking and enjoying what he made.

  3. A beautiful sunset and a great reminder that if Jesus needed time alone with his Father, how much more do we.

  4. This is a great reminder to take time to be quiet and still with God! Even Jesus needed that time, so how much more do we?!!!

  6. Our church did a summer series called "Summer by the Lake"...the teachings of Jesus by the lake. I love knowing He enjoyed His creation like I do.

  7. I think sunsets reflected, even if it just the light reflecting in rough water, make them that much better. Thanks for sharing.

  11. How wonderful. A beautiful picture of the creation glorifying the Creator, but then you took the picture and glorified Him, too!
