Barney Fife, MD

If you've known me for long, you know I don't have television.  When the country made the switch to digital, we didn't switch.  We still have the set however, so we sure enjoy watching a good DVD now and then.

Watching re-runs of Andy Griffith is one simple pleasure that I sure enjoy!  We have the first five seasons on DVD and will most definitely keep adding to the collection until we have all of them.

As you can see by my photo, I was taking pictures of my television screen tonight.  I don't know which was more fun, watching Barney or playing with my camera! Yes, I am easily amused!

You just gotta love Barney Fife, MD (Mayberry Deputy). He evokes so much emotion. He's had me laughin' and cryin' all at the same time.

  1. I have nice memories of watching the Andy Griffith Show when I was a kid :-)
Perhaps I need to get some DVDs and relive those happy days!
At least it was sweet and inoffensive family viewing :-)
    Bless you..Trish

  2. great simple pleasure. enjoy the day....

  3. I know who he is...but I have not seen any of his shows.

I am also not connected to the dish generation...just enjoy a good dvd now and again.

  4. That's a huge simple pleasure for me, too. I love the Barney Fife character and Don Knotts did him to perfection.

I like to talk like him sometimes too. Nip it! Nip it in the bud!

  5. Who can't just love Barney? And you've done a great job with your old time TV frame. Very clever post all around.

  6. Ohh you gave me a flash back in time. *grin* I grew up watching him and love loved loved him. He is too funny. I remember when my older brother took me to see the Apple Dumpling Gang movie in the theaters. What great memories.

We also don't have cable so a good DVD is very nice.

  7. Oh, I knew I liked you! They had a Barney Marathon on a few weeks ago...taped all the ones we didn't have on DVD. Some of my favorites? The Pickles, The Emancipation Proclamation, Dogs, Dogs, Dogs, Barney teaching Otis to drive and anytime Barney gets into the moonshine by mistake. What wonderful stories...sweet, kids like him too!

  8. That is a simple pleasure I love to share with my kids...older shows. Last night we watched Mary Poppins...of course all my kids know Barney because their Dad talks about him.
Too much fun and clean fun at that!

  9. OMGosh! Love, love, LOVE Barney Fife! He keeps me laughing. That is one of the best shows ever, in the history of television. The characters were so rich and interesting. Barney is my favorite, by far. As Debbie said, Don Knotts was perfect in that role.

  10. They don't make'em like they use to, T.V's or the shows.
    Great classic.

  11. One of my absolute favorite shows! I'm not as young as I used to be, and I remember it well, and we still watch it! We kept television to a bare minimum when our son was growing up ... and he grew up watching these episodes with Barney Fife! They don't make them like they used to, do they?! It's gotten quite sad, actually ... that's why ours is hardly ever on these days! I'd much rather be out taking pictures, anyway! Love your photo here ... I have to say it, thanks for the memories! :) This is my first time here on B&W Wednesdays, and I really like your entry for it! You have a blessed weekend!

    ~ Deborah

  12. Your pleasure is one of mine I love Andy Griffith along with I love Lucy etc ...thats when Tv was good
    thanks for sharing

  13. I love, love, LOVE the Andy Griffith Show! Barney is my favorite!

  14. Reading this and the comments, you are swaying me to get a DVR to tape marthons of the good old shows. except I am hoping to cut the cable soon. I had it for winter but can think of so many more pleasurable ways to spend my time than watching tv.
And when I pay for it I feel obligated to watch!
